I'm a recent graduate with a BA in Sociology from Bryn Mawr and an MA in Cultural Studies from Sabanci who has been living in Istanbul since 2007, where I eke out a living as a freelance editor, primarily for academic work in the humanities and social sciences, and as a private tutor offering academic support in history, literature, composition, French, English, and research design. Over the years I've developed specially tailored material, lesson plans, and research projects for students learning English in History, Sociology, and Literature departments at the undergraduate level, and Management at the graduate level.

I have written on travel, teaching, literature, and the globalization of the English language, and am currently working on a Turkish translation of Tamora Pierce's 'Alanna'.

My fifth article published here won the Hubnugget award for new writers - you can read it here: Background Check: Who is Jim Yong Kim?

My third article had been nominated for the same award, and was only beat out by a respectably slim margin: Recessionista in the Kitchen:  A Week of Lentils

I have greatly enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) the challenge of regularly publishing quality articles, and absolutely encourage anyone with the itch to sign up here. The community is free to join, and publishing is both simple and, thanks to enthusiastic and welcoming hubbers, immediately rewarding. Use it as a platform to review for exams, develop a writing portfolio, to pontificate away! It's all good, folks.

Incidentally, you can also find me at goodreads here and a brand-spanking-new blog here, chronicaling my adventures in gainful unemployment and the twists and turns of the doctoral application process. FUN.
